Program Overview

Give yourself a challenge and a reward this summer – and invigorate your Russian language studies in glorious St. Petersburg. With inspiring sites, rigorous coursework, homestays, and the help of Russian peers, you’re sure to make rapid progress. Warm weather, white nights, and support from Russia’s longest running study-abroad centers, ensure a fun and valuable international experience.

Excursions & Activities

  • Travel overnight to cosmopolitan Moscow, and Russian’s oldest city, Novgorod to explore highlights and enjoy time on your own.
  • Explore St. Petersburg highlights like the Hermitage, the Peter and Paul Fortress, Pushkin’s Apartment Museum, the Russian Museum, and the Russian bathhouse, and take a walking tour based on Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment.
  • Attend a ballet, concert, a hockey or soccer game, and get a taste of Russian and Georgian cuisine with cooking classes.
  • Get to know Russian peers with celebrations, sports events, cinema club meetings, Pub Quiz trivia nights, and more.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Application Process
There is a dual application process for this program.  (1) Students must apply to for permission to study abroad on this program; you can do this by clicking the "Apply Now" button.  At the same time, (2) students apply directly to the program for admission.  The program application can be accessed on the program website.  Please pay close attention to both the IWU and program deadlines, as they may be different.

Tuition Cost
IWU has a home-school tuition policy, which means that students studying abroad will be billed the regular IWU tuition—unless the study abroad tuition is higher, in which case the student pays that higher cost.  Unless otherwise noted, IWU does not charge room and board for studying abroad; instead, students pay those costs to the program provider.
