Arcadia - U of Winchester
Outstanding education on a friendly, values-driven campus

As “the university for sustainability and social justice,” the University of Winchester, established in 1840 by the Church of England, is a values-driven institution dedicated to teaching and research excellence. The university retains a commitment to each student growing as an individual, and situating themselves in the larger framework of social justice and sustainability. Located in the cathedral city of Winchester, Hampshire, you’ll find yourself in a quaint city with a rich heritage, and a decidedly modern, campus vibe with top-notch facilities. This unique program offers you excellent courses in this historic city of England which is still only an hour away from the hustle and bustle of London. This is an excellent program choice if you’re looking for high-quality teaching and facilities at a smaller, campus-based experience in a welcoming, diverse community, with close proximity to London.

There is a wide range of courses offered including popular courses such as Animal Welfare, Creative Writing, Law, and Sports Psychology. The campus also offers all kinds of sports and recreation clubs and societies including a Polo team (horseback variety), with top-notch facilities. You'll also be able to take full advantage of Arcadia's unique excursions and events along with the full support of our in-country staff.
 
  • Special Academic Opportunity: Value Studies Modules, a unique, interdisciplinary set of courses where students collaboratively consider fundamental ethical, political, artistic, religious, and educational questions. Courses are team-taught by experts in various departments, through small seminars of 10-12 students.
 
  • Winchester Business School is part of the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education initiative (PRME), which aims to realize sustainable development goals through responsible management education.
 
  • Campus life buzzes in King Alfred Quarter, just a short walk from the cathedral city. The King Alfred Centre is a social hub housing restaurants, meeting places and the Students Union - it’s the main student gathering place.

Arcadia includes many fun and exciting excursions, events, and activities - many of which are free and included in your program. You also have a range of optional excursions and events to join such as the exciting Regional Excursion where we bring together students from our England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland programs as well as a continental Europe event every Fall and Spring semester. Contact your program manager for specific program excursions.

All Arcadia excursions are designed to be fun, interactive learning opportunities where you can visit places of exceptional interest in the country and enjoy experiences that help to illuminate your studies. You could also earn a Co-curricular Learning Certificate (CLC).
