An IES Abroad internship in Cape Town develops your professional skills, your ability to communicate across cultures, and provides substantive work experience to jump-start your career in today's competitive job market.
You'll be guaranteed an unpaid summer internship in Cape Town, where you'll work up to 32 hours a week at a local business or organization. We will work with you to find the closest placement match between your professional and personal goals with what's available for internships in Cape Town.

Interning in Cape Town allows you to spend your free time exploring local gems like Greenmarket Square, Old Biscuit Mill, and the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site). Take full advantage of South Africa's beautiful climate and geography by hiking Table Mountain, visiting Lion's Head, hanging out with the penguins at Boulders Beach or walking along the scenic shores of Camps Bay.

Application Process
There is a dual
application process for this program. (1) Students must apply to for
permission to study abroad on this program; you can do this by clicking the "Apply Now" button. At the same time, (2) students apply directly to the program for
admission. The program application can be accessed on the program website. Please pay close attention to both the IWU and program deadlines, as they may be different.
Tuition Cost
IWU has a
home-school tuition policy, which means that students studying abroad will be billed the regular IWU tuition—unless the study abroad tuition is higher, in which case the student pays that higher cost. Unless otherwise noted, IWU does not charge room and board for studying abroad; instead, students pay those costs to the program provider.
