Manchester maintains a commitment to accessible, inclusive, and international learning that is blended and flexible. Manchester’s reputation for academic excellence extends to visiting students, who can take courses in a wide variety of subjects with particular strengths across many different disciplines, including the physical sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and computer science. Its campus blends into the surrounding city, the second-largest metropolitan area outside of London. • Known as the “capital” of northern England, you’ll be at the heart of the contemporary music and club scene that has launched many popular musicians, including The Smiths, Oasis, and more recently, The 1975.  Manchester is also a sporting hotbed, home to two of England's most popular football clubs, Manchester City and Manchester United.

  • You have the option of hundreds of classes as well several, more focused pathways in Leadership and Service, Pre-Law, and Sustainability.

  • University of Manchester is part of the Russell Group which represents 24 leading UK universities committed to maintaining the very best research, an outstanding teaching and learning experience, and unrivaled links with business and the public sector.

  • Make friends through the Students’ Union, which sponsors over 200 social clubs and societies and is one of the largest in the U.K. The university also houses an art gallery, museum, and theater and you can join an excursion planned by the International Society.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Application Process
There is a dual application process for this program.  (1) Students must apply to for permission to study abroad on this program; you can do this by clicking the "Apply Now" button.  At the same time, (2) students apply directly to the program for admission.  The program application can be accessed on the program website.  Please pay close attention to both the IWU and program deadlines, as they may be different.

Tuition Cost
IWU has a home-school tuition policy, which means that students studying abroad will be billed the regular IWU tuition—unless the study abroad tuition is higher, in which case the student pays that higher cost.  Unless otherwise noted, IWU does not charge room and board for studying abroad; instead, students pay those costs to the program provider.
