Program Description:

Arcadia - Griffith U Banner
Challenging academics with an enviable Queensland lifestyle

Griffith University is a progressive university renowned for excellence and its diversity of programs on offer in locations that make the most of the laid-back, outdoor lifestyle of Queensland. Spread across five campuses, each location offers a unique experience and courses to suit. You’ll love the Gold Coast campus for its diversity of course options as well as its proximity to world-renowned surf beaches and glittering coastal city life. If you’re more interested in an authentic Australian experience you may look towards taking your semester at Nathan campus, located in a natural bushland setting (yet only a 20-minute bus ride to the hustle and bustle of downtown Brisbane), and an ideal campus to study environmental science. If fine arts or music is your thing, go no further than the South Bank campus, located in the heart of Brisbane's cultural and entertainment district, and home to the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Queensland College of Art.

Your student experience at Griffith won’t be compromised as each campus offers a range of clubs and societies, as well as regular student activities.

The Griffith Mates program will help you get acclimated and make the most of your time at Griffith by linking you with Australian and other international student peers.

Engage with the culture by taking advantage of the Community Internship offered with 50 hours spent in placement. The internship is open to students interested in pursuing business, education, environmental science, human services, law and criminology, multimedia and IT, and psychology placements.

The Griffith Honours College (GHC) is open to any students currently in an Honors College at their home university. The GHC offers a large range of leadership and community development opportunities, along with some cross-disciplinary programs. Contact your Program Advisor for more information.

Excursions & Activities

With Arcadia, you learn beyond the classroom. Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned excursions and activities. Arcadia Australia offers a wonderful array of excursions and activities impacted by the location of your program to bring you unique experiences. These excursions and activities range from urban locations, coastal regions, rural bushlands, rainforests, and tropical islands. They provide you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture, environment, traditions, and with the people of these places. You will try new foods, learn new skills, explore incredible places, and learn about the Indigenous peoples of Australia.

Our staff will help you look beneath the surface of everyday life and begin to understand what it means to be Australian. While we encourage you to engage with the culture through your course options, there’s also a world of learning beyond the classroom. All Arcadia excursions are designed to be fun and interactive learning opportunities. We’ll open the doors, but it’s up to you to grasp the opportunity and enjoy a life-changing experience. Our excursions are fun and interactive opportunities to visit places off the beaten track.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Application Process
There is a dual application process for this program.  (1) Students must apply to for permission to study abroad on this program; you can do this by clicking the "Apply Now" button.  At the same time, (2) students apply directly to the program for admission.  The program application can be accessed on the program website.  Please pay close attention to both the IWU and program deadlines, as they may be different.

Tuition Cost
IWU has a home-school tuition policy, which means that students studying abroad will be billed the regular IWU tuition—unless the study abroad tuition is higher, in which case the student pays that higher cost.  Unless otherwise noted, IWU does not charge room and board for studying abroad; instead, students pay those costs to the program provider.
