AI Florence Arcadia
Art, Design & Fashion in the Artistic Heart of Italy

Do you have a passion for fashion? Are you eager to explore your artistic talents in one of the most famous and world-renowned seats of creative learning? Look no further than the Accademia Italiana in Florence, one of Europe’s premier institutes for art and design - from graphics to textiles and everything in between. Located in two beautiful renaissance buildings directly across from the famous Pitti Palace in Florence's Oltrarno district, just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, this seat of learning will excite, motivate and inspire you immediately.

You’ll choose four courses from a wide range, along with an Italian language course at your level. You can also take advantage of a Virtual Internship Option: Replace one elective course with a virtual internship through Arcadia to add international professional experience to your resume. See the Internship Placement Guide for information about placement details.

  • Courses are offered in English and Italian so whatever your language or artistic skills level you’ll be able to attend

  • Combine liberal arts courses and Italian history and culture with strong offerings in studio art, photography, fashion, graphic arts, interior, and industrial design and textiles.

  • Spring Semester students might get the opportunity to work behind the scenes on Accademia Italiana's most impressive fashion show.

  • Students from all over Italy and the world come to Florence to study at Accademia Italiana, bringing exciting diversity to your experience.

  • For higher-level art and design courses, you may be asked to submit a portfolio.

  • Arcadia's Orientation will help settle you into your exciting experience and bond with staff and other students - it includes a visit to a traditional Tuscan estate, replete with vines and olive groves.

  • Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned Excursions and Activities.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Application Process
There is a dual application process for this program.  (1) Students must apply to for permission to study abroad on this program; you can do this by clicking the "Apply Now" button.  At the same time, (2) students apply directly to the program for admission.  The program application can be accessed on the program website.  Please pay close attention to both the IWU and program deadlines, as they may be different.

Tuition Cost
IWU has a home-school tuition policy, which means that students studying abroad will be billed the regular IWU tuition—unless the study abroad tuition is higher, in which case the student pays that higher cost.  Unless otherwise noted, IWU does not charge room and board for studying abroad; instead, students pay those costs to the program provider.
